What is BoardOfDirectors.review?

A directory of who sits on the boards of public and private companies. Each person and organization has its own page showing current and former board seats, roles, committees and chief executives.

Where does the board information come from?

Mainly from public SEC EDGAR filings: insider ownership reports (Forms 3, 4 and 5), current reports announcing director and officer changes (Form 8-K, Item 5.02) and proxy statements (DEF 14A). Company listings come from the official directories of the NYSE, Nasdaq, NYSE American, TSX, TSX Venture, ASX and Euronext.

How often is it updated?

We check EDGAR for new filings every day and refresh stock exchange listings daily. Board changes announced in 8-K reports and proxy statements are reviewed by our editors before a record changes.

Which companies do you cover?

Companies listed on the NYSE, Nasdaq, NYSE American, TSX, TSX Venture, ASX and Euronext, plus private companies our editors add. Board members currently come from SEC filings, so boards are most complete for companies that file with the SEC.

Why is a director missing, or still listed after leaving?

A new director appears once they file with the SEC or a filing names them, and a departure is recorded when a company announces it. If a board looks out of date, please let us know and include a link to the announcement.

How do you tell apart two people with the same name?

Every record is tied to official identifiers where they exist — such as the SEC Central Index Key (CIK) for people and the CIK, LEI and ISIN for organizations — and to identifying facts like year of birth and current role. Our editors check possible duplicates before a new record is saved.

CEOs and ratings

How do you track new CEOs?

When an SEC filing names someone chief executive, we record their appointment, and our editors add changes announced in 8-K reports. Chief executives who took office in the last year are listed on our New CEOs page.

Who can write a review?

Anyone with a registered account and a verified email address can rate and review a person or organization, and reply to other reviews. Staff may remove reviews that break our rules.

How are the best and worst boards ranked?

A board's rating is the average star rating readers have given its current directors. A board needs at least three reviews to be ranked, so a single review cannot decide its place.

How do I search for a person or company?

Type a name, former name, ticker or official identifier (such as a CIK or LEI) into the search box, and choose People or Organizations to narrow the results.

How do I report a mistake?

Use our contact page. Tell us which page is wrong, what should change and where it is confirmed, such as an SEC filing or a company announcement.
