BoardOfDirectors.review answers a simple question: who sits on the board? We track the directors of public and private companies, the chief executives who run them, and how the people who follow them rate their boards.

What we track

• People — directors and executives, with the facts that tell two people with the same name apart: full name, year of birth, current role and official identifiers such as their SEC CIK.
• Organizations — listed and private companies, with their legal and former names, headquarters, ticker and exchange, and identifiers such as their SEC CIK, LEI and ISIN.
• Boards — who holds a seat on which board, their role and committees, whether they are independent, and when they joined or left.
• New CEOs — chief executives appointed in the last year, on our New CEOs page.

Where the information comes from

We build every record from public sources, primarily the SEC's EDGAR system: insider ownership filings (Forms 3, 4 and 5) show who is a director or officer, current reports (Form 8-K, Item 5.02) announce directors and officers joining or leaving, and proxy statements (DEF 14A) describe each year's board. Company listings come from the official directories of the NYSE, Nasdaq, NYSE American, the Toronto Stock Exchange and TSX Venture, the ASX and Euronext, with legal names and LEIs from GLEIF.

Our editors review the filings that change a board and keep one record per real person and organization, so the same director is never listed twice.
